Have you ever thought, to have “your” own olive tree? To enjoy the sunset under “your” olive tree or to join an olive harvest? |
| Quality over quantity |
|
Usually you need in the kitchen no large quantities of olive oil. Quality for this reason should always come before quantity. Like a good bottle of wine also a good bottle of olive oil has its price. An olive tree has been about 5 to 10 years very intensively cultivated until to bear the first fruit. Per tree to obtain an average of approximately 20 kg of olives. Depending on harvest time, this gives 3-5 liters of oil. The earlier the olives are harvested, the less is the yield of high-quality oil. While increases with continued leading the maturing status the amount of olive oil, but in the same time the quality decreases. Overripe olives, falling from the tree, are not suitable for an oil grade of "Extra Virgin”. Therefore, at Villa Oliveto olives are all hand-picked. An experienced picker reaps it in an hour max. 10 kg of olives. As a consumer it is difficult to estimate how much trouble and effort is behind it, until the olive oil comes to Germany and goes on the table. For one liter of olive oil it needs 6 to 7 kg of olives. These are sorted out after picking, because the oil from Villa Oliveto is exclusively of intact and healthy olives. After washing, they are still on the same day crushed and pressed. Then the olive oil is stored and bottled. Finally, the filled bottles are transported throughout Europe to Germany. Here comes the import tax and VAT. This oil is absolutely the first grade "Extra Virgin". It has the largest therapeutic effect with a special flavorful character of the Aegean coast. Villa Oliveto produces an olive oil of first grade "Extra Virgin” unmixed from olives exclusively harvested by hand. |
